Charleston, South Carolina – March 08, 2016 – Lifelong West Ashley resident and successful businessman Brantley Moody today issued the following statement as he officially enters the race for Charleston County Council District 7 –representing West of the Ashley.

“I am excited to bring my experience as someone who will watch the bottom line when it comes to how we spend tax dollars.  I will work hard to help improve our neighborhoods, grow our economy and have better coordination with other municipalities to meet the needs of our prosperous county,” said Brantley Moody, Republican candidate for Charleston County Council.  “We have serious infrastructure needs to support this growing county and we need to finish I-526.”

Moody has been a commercial banker for more than 20 years, presently with NewBridge Bank.  Moody graduated from Middleton High School, earned a double major in Finance and Real Estate from the University of South Carolina, and has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from The Citadel.  Brantley and his wife, Julie, have three children.  The Moodys attend John Wesley United Methodist Church where Brantley is currently the Treasurer and past Chairman of the Administrative Council.

“If elected, I will work to find solutions to ease traffic congestion, I will press hard for the completion of the Gateway Improvement Initiatives and support beautification efforts for West Ashley entry ways.  We must work together on the redevelopment of the Citadel Mall area,” said Moody.

“I want to thank Charleston City Councilmember Keith Waring and other community and business leaders for encouraging me to enter the race for County Council.  I was humbled by their efforts and by the number of phone calls and emails I received supporting my campaign.  I understand the issues that face families and businesses West of the Ashley.  I am a supporter of public schools –in fact, our three children attend public schools.  If elected, I will represent all residents West of the Ashley,” said Moody.

The Moody family has a history of community service to Charleston. Brantley’s father, Bill, was recently re-elected to Charleston City Council.  His brother, Brian, served three terms on Charleston County School Board
